sunny - christmas, 2007
(one week before giving birth)
“Sunny” (aka “Nana’s Golden Sunshine) is one of our ‘twins.’ the other is “Lilly” (aka Brenda’s Gilded Lilly). When we brought these two litter mates to our home after a long search for just the right dogs with the right pedigree, we immediately nick-named them “The Gold Dust Twins.” This was because at that same time, we selected a male dog to keep for ourselves, from Ranger’s and Jasmine’s litter, and registered him as “Barnett’s Gold Dust” aka Dusty.
Sunny is a light golden with beautiful flowing hair.
Sunny has 29 champion dogs among her near ancestors (champion hunting and companion dogs).
sunny gets along well well with all our other dogs... even the Pomeranian “house boss,” gidget, and has herself become a “full time” house dog. She recently adopted a little kitten one of our granddaughters brought home.
no doubt about it... sunny (who can actually smile) is the most helpful of all our goldens. I am not sure that makes her the smartest, but probably it does. I was in the back yard recently, cleaning up a shredded plastic garbage bag that several of 3 or 4 goldens had deposited in numerous pieces around the yard, and sunny began picking up pieces of plastic and bringing them to me. she actually picked up most of that plastic for me. If I could only get her to pull weeds... maybe this spring... my wife didn’t really believe this story until sunny helped her pick sticks up and put them in a wheelbarrow just recently.

sunny will usually “smile” on command. If she is not taking care of a brood of pups, she will be found in the front yard or inside the house.
